Scarlett Johansson was born on November 22, 1984, on the 22nd of November, 1984 in New York City New York. She is an American actress/singer whose versatility has won her recognition across many types of films ranging from thrillers and adventure films to period dramas. Johansson was born in New York City, and was raised by an architect father and producer mother. Her twin brother Hunter were the youngest siblings of four. As a child she was able to begin performing. Actually, at 7 years old, she had already auditioned for a number of commercials. Her interest in acting grew quickly, and she was immediately to the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. Her debut came as an actor in the film North (1994) when she was nine. At eight, she was a part of Ethan Hawke on Off-Broadway in Sophistry. Johansson made her debut on screen in Just Cause (1996), however the film Manny & Lo 1996 that gave her her breakthrough. The movie is about two orphaned girls who have fled to escape. Her next film won the attention of critics for her character in the film as a teen who had a life-threatening accident The Horse Whisperer (1998) and she gained further attention for her role as the cynical teenage exiled Rebecca in Ghost World (2001).
